What to expect after Hawaii gynecomastia surgery
Dr. Schlesinger’s patients are often pleased to find their recovery after male breast reduction is relatively quick and easy. Most men are able to return to an office job within one week after surgery and can resume exercise after two to three weeks.
Patients typically go home the same day as surgery, and bandages are removed the next day. After this, they wear a compression garment for 7 to 10 days to support the healing tissues. Prescription pain medication can be used for a day or two, if needed, although many patients are comfortable using Tylenol only. Bruising and swelling typically peak two to three days after surgery and decrease gradually thereafter. Final results are visible after about 10 to 12 weeks.

Enhanced male breast reduction recovery techniques
Dr. Schlesinger understands that you lead a busy, active life and wants his patients to get back to work and to the beach with no shirt on very, very quickly after surgery.
We use ultrasound (the kind physical therapists use for sore muscles) post-operatively to improve the outcome and speed the healing process. We also recommend our patients use DMSO, a wood-derived product that is popular with athletes to decrease bruising and swelling. (Rumor has it that Tour de France riders bathe in this stuff.) Interestingly, DMSO is actually a horse linament, but Dr. Schlesinger adds a special ingredient to make it tolerable to human skin. Our gynecomastia patients start using this the night of surgery, and it helps reduce bruising and swelling at an impressive rate.
